Organization DescriptionThe American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, was founded in 1928 as the Association of Record Librarians of North America. Following several other name changes, the present name was adopted in 1991. The mission states that AHIMA "is committed to the quality of health information for the benefit of patients, providers, and other users of clinical data."
